CPCUG 1998 County Science Fair - Letter to Judges

Walt Houser, Science Fair Coordinator

Dear CPCUG Science Fair Judge:

Thank you for volunteering to be a science fair judge on behalf of the Capital PC User’s Group. I trust that you will find the experience personally rewarding. Moreover, I thank you for agreeing to participate in this wonderful opportunity to recognize talented, hard working young people.

Last May and June at the General Meeting we acknowledged the accomplishments of dozens of young scientists. We presented plaques, $50 savings bonds, and one year CPCUG memberships to over 10 for their special achievement in exploring computer technology. Other Computer Science Category participants received CPCUG certificates. All of these young people were quite excited at the honor. In 1998 CPCUG can look forward to even more awards and glowing young faces, thanks to your contribution.

As a judges, you have the following responsibilities:

Although most science fairs do not require attendance at the award ceremony, this is an excellent opportunity to promote CPCUG. In award your presentation, please highlight our motto of "Users helping users" and leave CPCUG flyers out for attendees to pick up. To save you some head-scratching, there is a "canned" pitch.

There is also a table of judges and assignments. If you share an assignment with another judge, please call or email that person. If I have the assignment wrong, the date is unsatisfactory, or other information needs change, please reply. Also please call the county or regional Science Fair office to let them know you are representing CPCUG and confirm that you have the correct date, time, location, and paperwork. If I can help, please call me at 301-299-0593 at home and 202-273-8012 at work.

Yours truly,

Walt Houser
Science Fair Coordinator
